all about accessibility
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or would like to obtain further information before attending an event at our centre!
Car parks
Holders of a valid parking permit for disabled persons (blue) or a valid permit for parking concessions for special groups of severely disabled persons (orange) are entitled to park free of charge in the indoor car park of the Volkswagen Halle Braunschweig (see parking permits). Please speak to our staff at the barrier system and show your parking authorisation. It is of course also possible to drop off or pick up people with disabilities near the main entrance to the Volkswagen Halle Braunschweig. There is a possibility to stop in the Kiss & Ride zone (Konrad-Adenauer-Str., next to the taxi rank).
Entrance area
The entrance for people with disabilities is located to the right of the main entrance of the Volkswagen Halle Braunschweig (box and wheelchair entrance) for public events. For some events, the entrance is not opened separately due to the size of the event. Please use the main entrance.

Bag transport
It is not permitted to bring larger bags or rucksacks (larger than DIN A4) to public events. However, it is of course permitted to carry necessary medical equipment/medical material larger than A4 format. It is helpful if those affected actively approach our staff at the lodge and wheelchair entrance and show a medical certificate. Larger bags will be checked and - to avoid irritating other people due to the size of the bag being carried - marked as "checked" with a ribbon. At some events, the box and wheelchair entrance will not be opened separately due to the size of the event. Please use the main entrance and speak to our staff there.
Access to the arena
Access to the arena
All public event areas are accessible for wheelchair users or people with disabilities. The interior of the arena is at ground level, the event rooms on level 1 are accessible by lift. The staff in charge of admission control and seating instructions will advise you on the best way to access the event space and will accompany you if necessary. Please note that the seats in the lower and upper ring are not accessible for wheelchair users and are sometimes difficult to access for people with disabilities. Further information can be found under Seats for wheelchair users and people with disabilities.

Spaces for wheelchair users and people with disabilities
Wheelchair spaces are available in designated areas in the Volkswagen Halle Braunschweig. If you require a wheelchair space, you should make sure that you indicate that a wheelchair space is required when purchasing your ticket. These tickets are generally not available on sale. The organisers often offer free admission to the person accompanying a wheelchair user. Please note that only guests with a designated wheelchair user ticket are entitled to a wheelchair space.
The seats in the lower and upper ring are sometimes difficult to reach for people with disabilities. If possible, please choose seats in the ground-level stalls
Dealing with rollators
For safety reasons, it is prohibited to leave walking frames in the aisles or on the square during the event. Escape and rescue routes must be kept clear. Please speak to our staff on site. Once you have reached your seat, a member of staff will leave the rollator in a suitable place. Please do not leave any valuables in the rollator. We accept no liability for the loss of valuables. The member of staff will of course return your rollator to your seat during the interval or at the end of the event.
We ask people who are dependent on a walking frame to purchase tickets in barrier-free areas. Further information can be found under Seats for wheelchair users and people with disabilities.
Barrier-free WCs
On level 0, barrier-free WCs are available in the promenade between tunnels 2 and 3, between tunnels 3 and 4, between tunnels 5 and 6 and between tunnels 6 and 1. On level 1, the barrier-free WC is located next to the restaurant.
Euro WC key
You will need a Euro WC key to open a disabled toilet. Please speak to our staff if you do not have a Euro WC key. General information about the Euro WC key can be found here.
